WALLACE HOWARD EVASON (WALDO) 1924 - 2011 Waldo Evason passed away peacefully at the age of 86, after a brief illness, at Seven Oaks Hospital. He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Phyllis (Dolenko); daughter Karen Anne Forest (Richard) and his beloved granddaughter, Amanda. Also surviving are his brother Leo Evason of Toronto; several nieces, nephews and extended family. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Mary Evason, and brothers, Oliver, George and Orest. Waldo was born and educated in Brandon, Manitoba. He started his long career with the Canadian Pacific Railway in Brandon as a Fireman and later transferred to Winnipeg. He retired in 1984 at the age of 60 as a locomotive engineer. Waldo also served his country during the Second World War with the Royal Canadian Signal Corps, serving overseas. He was a 55 year member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Ukrainian Veterans Branch 141. Waldo was a long time parishioner of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church. He was a 50 year plus, Honorary Member of the Knights of Columbus St. Josaphat Council, #4138. He received several Certificates of Merit for his service to the Council. Waldo was also a long time member of the C.P.A.C., working bingo night until they closed up. In recognition of his services to the Club, he received several Certificates of Merit. Funeral Liturgy will be held 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 6 at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, 737 Bannerman Ave. with Fr. I. Dziadyk, OSBM officiating. Rosary will be prayed starting at 9:30 a.m. led by the Knights of Columbus. Interment will follow the service in Holy Family Cemetery. The family would like to thank Dr. Patel for his efforts and to the wonderful staff of the 4th Floor, Units 1 and 2 for their compassionate care.
