FRANK GORDON WEBSTER It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Gord on Friday, April 29, 2011 in the arms of his loving wife Dale. Gord was born in Sheffield, England the only child of Mr. and Mrs. Webster. Gord was educated and raised in Sheffield, Yorkshire. In 1949, Gord was called up to the national service and spent two years in the Royal Armed Forces and was demobilized with honours. In 1951, Gord applied to the City of Sheffield police department and was forwarded to the national police training college and graduated in the top 10%. Gord returned to Sheffield and was duly sworn into the police department where he served with distinction for the next ten years. In the early 1960s, after personal tragedies, he immigrated to Canada with his young son Paul. Gord worked in Winnipeg as a detective for the St. Vital Police Department and then for the City of Winnipeg Police Department after amalgamation where he served until his retirement. On August 8, 1981 he married Dale Stycke. Gord is survived by his loving wife Dale and his son Paul. His dear friends that Gord considered his family also are left to grieve: Laurie, Rachel, Eagen and Peyton Hamilton, and numerous extended family. No time for farewell words, no time to say good-bye, you were gone before we knew it, right to heavens door. The tears in our eyes can be wiped away, but the ache in our hearts will always stay. You will be forever missed. Services to be held at the Notre Dame Community Centre, 271 avenue de la Cathédrale at 2:00 p.m., on Thursday, May 5, 2011.

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • Gord, Dale and I spent a lot of time together. I fondly remember when Dale and I worked at the Birchwood Inn, Gord would always occupy a bar stool and regale patrons with jokes. He knew hundreds of them, and his delivery was impeccable. I’m so sorry for your loss Dale. - Posted by: Vickie Harley (Friend) on: Aug 10, 2021

  • 40 years ago, Mr. Webster and Dale helped me when I was having problems with a family I was living with. I knew them from the restaurant where I worked - "Los Espanoles". They invited me to stay with them in their beautiful apartment that overlooked the legislature buildings. I only stayed for a few days, but I will never forget how caring, kind and generous they were to me at a very difficult time in my life. Thank you Mr. Webster. You probably saved my life. - Posted by: Donna (Employee and friend ) on: May 27, 2019

  • I owe this man so much, he took a chance and gave me a job when I needed something good to happen. I'm so glad I got to tell him that the last time I saw him. - Posted by: Bruce Thomson (Co-worker) on: May 09, 2012
