JOAN LAURA GUDGE The family of Joan Laura Gudge sadly announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother on Friday, April 29, 2011 at the age of 90. She leaves to cherish her memory children Brian (Debra), Ron (Denyse), grandchildren Jeff (Jaye), Barb (Woody), Angie, Nick (Kelly), Jon, Tom, Sarah (Jeff) and Sheridan (Matthew) plus 13 great-grandchildren. Joan is also survived by her sister Frances Hyde and brothers Bert and Alex Novak (Terry). She will be missed by numerous nieces, nephews and caring friends. Joan was predeceased by her husband Russell, her parents John and Eleanor Novakowski, her brother Tom and sisters Jean and Minni. Mom was born on March 30, 1921 in Narol, MB. She was raised and went to school in Narol. After schooling she worked in Winnipeg and Toronto. Upon returning from Toronto she married Russell, settling in Narol and raising their family. They worked together in market gardening and after they quit market gardening Mom worked as a custodian in the River East School Division. Throughout her life, it was never about her. She showed kindness and generosity to all. Her warmth, humour and humanity gave great joy to friends and family. The family would like to express a special thank you to all staff at the Hospital and Arborg Personal Care Home for their wonderful care of Mom. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Arborg Personal Care Home or a charity of choice. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 6, 2011, at Corpus Christi Roman Catholic Church, 5819 Henderson Hwy. at 10:30 a.m. with viewing at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Corpus Christi Church Cemetery.
