FRANK PETER STARODUB It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing on Sunday, May 1, 2011 of our dad, Frank Peter Starodub aged 77. Dad will be lovingly and forever remembered by his sons; Jeff, Chris (Jodi) and Glen. He is survived by brothers; Mike (Mary) Starodub, Carl (Mary) Starodub and sister Patricia (Gary) Hamilton as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and loving friends. He will live on through his grandson Aedyn, his little cutie . Dad is united once again with his loving wife Jennie and parents Peter and Mary. Dad was our pillar and rock to lean on, he was always there for his sons, family, cherished friends and neighbours. He was involved with the Church and Knights of Columbus and was a dedicated worker until his retirement from the Selkirk Rolling Mills. Dad enjoyed talking to everyone and anyone. His weekly grocery shopping was more of a social outing and he made everyone smile when he was around. Dad enjoyed the outdoors, which came from working on the family farm and later in his retirement he enjoyed his long walks, golfing, fishing, yard work, gardening and of course who could forget his blue berry picking expeditions. If you were lucky Dad would bring you some of the bounty from his cherished garden, tomatoes and onions were his favourites to share. He also enjoyed his monthly trip to the casino with his harem . Thank you to family and friends who sent well wishes, prayers and a special thank you to our neighbours who were by his side in his moment of need. Sincere thank you to the ambulance attendants and the doctors and nurses of the Selkirk General Hospital. A prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 5 at Gilbart Funeral Home, 309 Eveline St., Selkirk. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 6 at Notre Dame Roman Catholic Church, 269 Jemima St., Selkirk with Father Dado Parrenas and Father Art Seaman officiating. Interment to follow in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations in Frank's memory can be made to Children's Wish Foundation of Canada, Manitoba Nunavut Chapter, 350 St. Mary Ave., Winnipeg MB R3C 3J2 or a charity of your choice. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com
