JEANETTE CARR Jeanette left us peacefully with her loving family by her side on Tuesday, May 3, 2011, at the Foyer Valade at the age of 90 years. Jeanette was predeceased by her husband Don; son Doug; brothers, Leo, Jerry, Eugene and Louis; sisters, Marguerite, Molly and Helene. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Bob (Laura), Susan (Duane) Babynchuk and Jim (Val). She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren, Danny, Bryan, Kayleigh, Shaylene, Liam and Emilie. Also left to cherish her memory are dear friends from Kirchhoff Gardens and the Dubuc Social Club. Jeanette was born January 15, 1921 in Spalding, Saskatchewan and grew up in St. Boniface. She completed her studies at St. Joseph's Academy. In her youth she helped out at L'épicerie Morin on Langevin Street, the store owned by her parents, which also served as a boarding house. It wasn't long before she fell for one of the boarders, Don Carr, who would turn out to be her soulmate of 50 years before his untimely death in 1995. Jeanette and Don instilled in all their children a great love for the outdoors starting off with camping in the Whiteshell then in 1965 buying a cabin at Nutimik Lake. The memories created around the campfire have become legendary. Besides raising a family of four children, Jeanette had many interests including Scrabble, oil painting and cards. Her grandchildren meant the world to her. They were her greatest pride and she loved to share in their interests. The family would like to thank the staff at Foyer Valade for their compassionate care. Cremation has taken place. A service to celebrate Jeanette's life will be held on Friday, May 6 at 11:30 a.m. in the Coutu Funeral Chapel, 680 Archibald Street. Memorial donations in Jeanette's memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3L 0K6. The Coutu family in care of arrangements: E. J. COUTU CO.
