Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEVELYN BERNICE MALASHEWSKI June 10, 1929 - May 3, 2011 Peacefully, following a lengthy illness, it is with deep sadness that we announce the death of our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother on Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at Concordia Hospital. Evelyn will be lovingly remembered by her son Mark; daughter Sandra and son-in-law Robert. Nana will be greatly missed by her grandchildren: Sheralyn and Paul Guilleminot, Jacalyn, Richard and Karalyn Wareing. She also leaves behind three great-grandchildren, Kaden Kozub, Ari and Adrian Guilleminot to cherish her love and memories. Evelyn was predeceased by her husband and childhood sweetheart Fred in 1995, her mother Anne in 1985 and father Bill in 1958, as well as her grandson Ryan Malashewski in 1991. Evelyn was born in Winnipeg on June 10, 1929. She loved to play the violin and mandolin with which she entertained on the radio in her younger years. Mom loved to sing in many choirs and went travelling to Rome in one of her favourite Ukrainian choirs to sing for the Pope. Mom was a very active and dedicated member of St. Michael's Parish UCWLC for almost 60 years. She held many positions on the executive and regional level. She most enjoyed the socialization - as she always loved to be with people helping for every event she could. Mom travelled with Dad to many different places including Hawaii, Europe and the Caribbean. She also spent many cold winters away in Texas, Arizona and Hawaii. In her healthier years, Mom enjoyed spending the summer at the cottage at Lee River with family and friends. She really took pride in cooking up a storm for her family on every special occasion and spending time with her grand-children. Throughout her lifetime she showed great generosity and kindness to all. She loved to tell stories that could easily see hours fly by without one even realizing it. She was a pleasure to know and will always be remembered as a wonderful mom, nana and great-grandmother. She was always a busy lady until she became ill a few years ago, and she fought every battle that came her way until she could not fight anymore. Her family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Concordia Hospital, 3rd Floor for their effort and kindness throughout the past few years, and especially the final days prior to her passing. They tried to do as much as they could for her, and to help her feel as comfortable as possible. Prayers will be sung 7:00 p.m. Friday, May 6 and Divine Liturgy will be celebrated 9:30 a.m. Saturday, May 7 at St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 400 Day St. with Father M. Krochak officiating. Interment will follow in Transcona Cemetery. KORBAN FUNERAL CHAPEL 956-2193
