Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGERDA (IRENE) SCHROF It is with great sadness that the family of Gerda Schrof announce her sudden, but peaceful, passing at Riverview Health Centre on Monday, May 2, 2011, one week before her 96th birthday. Gerda was born in Winnipeg on May 9, 1915, and spent her early life there. She married Fred Schrof in 1938 and moved to Starbuck where they farmed until retiring to Winnipeg in 1980. They spent many happy winters in Mesa, Arizona and made many friends there. She was a member of the Prairieview Ladies and was instrumental in establishing Seniors Housing in Starbuck. She also was a member of the Elm Creek Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. She is lovingly remembered by her cousin Ella Bergh, sister-in-law Agnes Schrof and many nieces and nephews and their families. She was predeceased by her husband Fred Schrof in July, 2001. A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, May 7, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Charleswood United Church, 4820 Roblin Blvd., with reception to follow in the church hall. Many thanks to her friends at Fairmont Woods as well the wonderful staff at Riverview Health Centre who provided such excellent care. Flowers gratefully declined, donations may be made to Riverview Hospital or a charity of your choice. Her warmth, humour, and caring gave great joy to everyone she met. We will miss you!
