HENRY GOERZEN After a courageous battle with cancer, Henry Goerzen passed on with his family and closest friends by his side at the Morris General Hospital on Thursday, May 5, 2011. Henry leaves behind his daughter Caron Whitlaw-Hiebert; son-in-law Roy Hiebert; grandsons Zachary Hiebert, Michael Whitlaw, Mark Whitlaw and his wife Jennifer; his brothers Rudy and wife Ethel, Walter and wife Irene, Art and wife Inga; and sister Louise Deglow; brother-in-law Jake Kroeker; and sister-in-law Martha Mooney. Henry was predeceased by his wife Vangie Goerzen on January 23, 1985, and his sister Martha Fast. Henry was born on December 7, 1927 in Coaldale, AB. Henry met his wife Vangie in Winnipeg, where they resided for many years. He worked at Independent Jewellers and Eaton's as a watchmaker. He resided in Morris, MB since 1958, where he opened Morris Jewellers one year later, which he continued to own and operate for 52 years, and proudly served the community that he lived in as a jeweller and watchmaker. Henry also proudly and successfully owned and operated Fort Richmond Jewellers in Winnipeg for many years. Henry's favourite activities included curling at the Morris Curling Club and golfing at the Riverview Golf Course. He was very involved in participating in many activities to support his community. Henry was also very active with the Morris Lions Club and the Manitoba Stampede. His favourite places to be were his store and Falcon Lake with his family. A special thanks to Bill Howie, Len Recksiedler, Darryl Doerksen, his family, and all the nurses and staff at the Morris General Hospital. Special thanks also to Rhonda Bergstresser who worked at Morris Jewellers devotedly for 25 years. A special thanks to Rudy Goerzen who faithfully phoned him every day and supported him through his entire battle. He will be deeply missed but will live forever in our hearts. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service to celebrate Henry's life will be held Tuesday, May 10 at 2:00 p.m. at the Morris United Church, 207 Ottawa Ave. West.
