ADELE PAQUETTE (nee HOPLOCK) May 28, 1944 - May 2, 2011 After a long courageous battle with cancer, it is with profound sadness we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother. Mom was predeceased by her father, John Hoplock. She leaves to mourn her sons Jay (Shelli), Ric (Krista), grandchildren Tyler, Cody, Mykila, and Landen, her partner, Matthew Sarama, her mother, Rose, her sisters and best friends, Lorraine (Lyle) Eby, Audrey (Brian) Fraser, Lois (Ray) Lamb, her nieces, Tara, Kristen, and Leslie, her nephews, Reid, Mark, and Michael, and other relatives and friends. Mom was a special lady, devoted to her family and was always there to lend support when someone needed her. She was extremely proud of her grandchildren, who brought joy to her every time they were together. Her time with Matthew, family and friends at the lake was especially dear to her. She was an astute business woman, who co-founded Starlite Communications Inc. in 1963. Starting out as a small T.V. antenna company and building it into a successful telecommunication tower company. She was proud to be one of the first communication companies in Winnipeg to open an MTS Mobility Centre, which later evolved into an MTS Connect Store. In 2002, she was a finalist for Woman Entrepreneur of the Year, which speaks to her dedication and professionalism in the industry. She considered business associates to be family, and as such she formed many close friendships. Over the past few months so many people lent their time and support and we cannot mention you all, but know that it meant a great deal to us. Special thanks to Gail and Deb. Words cannot describe our gratitude. Thanks to Dr. Chris Ogarenko, Dr. Ralph Wong, CancerCare Manitoba, and Riverview Health Centre. All who knew Mom will miss her deeply. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, May 9, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Bernadette Parish, 820 Cottonwood Road at Drake Boulevard, with Fr. Fred Olds presiding. Viewing will commence at 12:00 p.m. A reception will follow the service. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba or Riverview Health Centre.
