Born: Jan 08, 1937
Date of Passing: May 02, 2011
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARY PRYSTAE Surrounded by her children, our precious mother passed away gracefully and peacefully on May 2, 2011 after a short but hard fought battle with cancer. She is now at peace and free from pain. Mom was born January 8, 1937 to Joseph and Pauline Prystae, baby sister to Mike and Harold. She grew up on the family farm in Tadmore, Saskatchewan, spending her time with her friends, but especially with her brothers and her best friend, her cousin Florence, with whom she held a very close bond til the end. Mom was predeceased by her parents, and the love of her life, Mundi. She is survived by her four children, Allan (Enid), Ruby (Warren), Wayne, Cheryl (Rick); her grandchildren, Evan, Owen, Daniel (Kat), Stuart (Samara), Mandy (James); brothers, Mike (Doris) and Harold (Linnea) and many nieces and nephews. Mom faced all challenges life threw at her with strength and determination, always finding the positives. She was happiest when surrounded by family, especially her grand-children. Ukrainian Christmas dinners were the happiest times when the guitars would break out and they would sing and play and laughter would result. She treasured all those times and we will have all those memories of her to hold onto. She held many jobs over the years but loved running the high school cafeteria the most and was always there to listen when a student wanted to talk as she was the best listener. Staff and students alike were all her extended family and she still made perogies for many until she had to stop this past winter. As per Mom's wishes cremation has taken place and a family celebration of life will take place in Yorkton, Saskatchewan later this summer. To honour her memory please take the time to call or spend time with your own families as this time is irreplaceable. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Gimli Palliative Care Program, PO Box 250, Gimli, MB, R0C 1B0. We would like to thank Dr. S.V. Patel and the entire Palliative Care Team who guided us and enabled us to care for Mom at home til the end. Without their help we would not have been able to do this, especially nurses Carol, Karen and Dale. You guys are awesome. Mom, we will miss you immensely but we have the greatest memories to hold onto til we meet again. We love you, and will strive to live life as you wanted us to. That we could all be as strong as her, would be her greatest gift. Gilbart Funeral Home, Gimli in care of arrangements www.gilbartfuneralhome.com
