Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySTANLEY CHARLES BAKER It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Stanley Charles Baker, peacefully in his sleep, on Thursday May 5, 2011, at Deer Lodge Hospital at the age of 87. Stan is survived by his second wife, Maureen, his daughter Carol (Jerry) Ciasnocha of Ottawa, stepdaughter Kathy Eden, stepson Rick Boles, grandchildren Heather and Christopher Ciasnocha, step-grandchildren Natasha and Keenan Boles and Tyler Eden and many nieces and nephews. Stan was predeceased by his first wife, Gwendolyn, his daughter Christine, his two sisters, Bernice and Elsie and his sister-in-law, Peggy. Stan grew up on Valour Road, Winnipeg, and attended Daniel MacIntyre and Gordon Bell High School. He enlisted with the R.C.A. F. in 1942 and served three years with the R.A.F. in Burma. After the war, Stan returned to Winnipeg where he married Gwendolyn and started a long and rewarding career in the grain handling industry with the Manitoba Wheat Pool. Stan also held management positions with the Anglo Canadian Grain Company Limited, Balfour-Guthrie, the Canola Council of Canada and the Flax Council of Canada. Stan was an active member of the 402 Squadron Reserves and a past president of the Wartime Pilots and Observers Association. Stan married his second wife, Maureen, in 1996. They enjoyed many cruises and trips to Hawaii during their 15 years of marriage. He will be greatly missed by his Wheat Board associates, cruise friends and members of the Mouse Trap and Done Working Duffers clubs. A special thanks to the extraordinary staff at Tower Six Deer Lodge Hospital. A memorial service will be held at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue, at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday May 14, 2011. Donations in Stan's memory can be made to the Deer Lodge Donation Fund for Tower 6, Cancer Care Manitoba or charity of choice.
