FR. EMMETT J. MCKENNA SJ At René Goupil House (Jesuit Infirmary) Pickering, Ontario on Sunday, May 1, 2011 in the 91th year of his life and 69th year of religious life. Emmett was born on August 22, 1920 in Montreal, Quebec. He is the son of the late Leo J. McKenna and Gertrude Eagan. Fr. McKenna's Jesuit ministry for many years was teaching high school in Montreal, Kingston and Winnipeg, where he also worked at St. John Brebeuf Parish. Later, he served as assistant director of Martyrs' Shrine, Midland and was director of the Jesuit Infirmary for eight years. In 2000 he became the chaplain of the infirmary until ill health and weakness caused him to retire from that position in 2007. He is survived by his sister Mrs. Doris Tooby of Montreal. Mass of the Resurrection was celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 5, 2011 at the Manresa Spiritual Renewal Centre, Pickering. Interment took place in the Jesuit Cemetery, Guelph at 2:30 p.m. on the same day. Ad Maiorem Dei Gloriam.
