Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLIAM (BILL) WOZNY September 15, 1930 - May 3, 2011 Although I loved you dearly, I couldn't make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands at rest. God broke my heart to prove to me He only takes the best. With sorrow my husband Ossie Mellon and I (Dr. Bernadette Mellon) announce the loss of my Dad Bill. In heaven now with Mom and all the family and friends who went ahead. If Heaven has Sports Teams Dad is the pitcher, the quarterback, the goalie and the skip. Every golf shot will be a hole in one! A lifelong sports fan and participant Dad and I spent his last night watching the NHL playoffs, eating our favourite foods peanut butter and chocolate and drinking Pepsi. I was the only one who could call you Daddy and the memories and life lessons are many. You taught me to ride a bike, catch a ball, skate on the backyard rink you flooded for me, swim, dance a Polka standing on your toes, drive a car and so much more. You gave me the opportunity through education to be independent and often told me you were proud of me.... that I will never forget. Your last words to me were I love you words you often said and meant. A proud member of the West Kildonan and Winnipeg Police forces from 1954 to 1986 Dad thought like a policeman to the end always vigilante always cautious. Loving husband to Mom Phyllis Dwyer (1930-2003) for 51 years, Dad was her caregiver for many years, a cross he bore gladly. Born and raised in the North End of Winnipeg Dad loved to spend every vacation at Grand Beach. So many memories of good times at the beach! Many thanks to the staff of the Maples Personal Care Home for your care and attention to Dad (especially Tina his favourite care giver - she could always make him smile!) Many thanks to all our friends for your calls, words of encouragement and prayers very much appreciated. A Private Family Service and Interment at Queen of Heaven Mausoleum Assumption Cemetery will be held. Monseigneur Michael Moore officiating. Final Arrangements by Cropo Funeral Chapel. Bye bye Daddy I love you and will miss you always until we meet again xoxo. In lieu of flowers we ask that you take the time to make someone smile. Life is a gift that is why we call it the present' be sure to cherish every moment as if it were your last, you can not get time back once it has passed.
