Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROBERT LYLE LANG August 29, 1917 - March 28, 2011 Peacefully on Monday, March 28, 2011, at the Eriksdale Personal Care Home, Lyle passed away with family at his side. Lyle was born on Sec 2-1-28 Lyleton, MB on August 29, 1917, the second child of John E. and Anna Bella (Reekie) Lang. He attended the Cameron, North Antler and Lyleton Schools. He moved with his family to Belmont in 1934 and worked at various jobs. In 1943 he joined the Canadian Armored Corps - 2nd Division, Fort Garry Horse where he spent the next year in Camp Borden as an Instructor in the Tank Corps before going overseas to Holland. Returning to Canada, he had a trucking business before starting on heavy equipment and road construction for the Municipality. When Belmont got sewer and water, he looked after the water plant. In the fall of 1967 he went to work at Shilo, MB in the water treatment plant for D.N.D. In 1968 Lyle and Edith moved to Brandon, and upon his retirement in 1982, they moved to Ashern, MB. Predeceased in June 2000 by his loving wife Edith, of 62 years, his parents, two siblings in infancy, two brothers and two sisters and their spouses, granddaughter Corinne (1965) and grandson-in-law Randy (2004). Dad is survived by his son Keith; daughters Peggy, Betty Ann (Fred) Smith and Marion (Alf) Howse; grandchildren Kevin, Laurie, Kim (Greg), Craig (Nancy), Kerri (Mike) and Kendra (Warren); and great-grandchildren Conlan (Stephanie), Brennan, Carly (Jason), Kristy, Cody, Kyle, Brendan, Jared, Jacob, Katelyn and Lindsey; one sister-in-law Gertie (Ray) Reid, along with numerous nieces and nephews. The family wish to thank Helen Webster and the Home Care staff, the girls at the Life office in Ashern and the doctors, nurses and staff at the Eriksdale Personal Care Home. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 13, 2011 at the Ashern United Church with Melanie Kauppila officiating. Interment of Dad and Mom's ashes to follow in the United Churchyard Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Ashern United Church c/o Carole McDougall, P.O.
