KENNETH VALDIMAR FRANKLIN SIGURDSON September 23, 1944 - May 5, 2011 It is with great sadness we announce the unexpected passing of Kenneth Valdimar Franklin Sigurdson on May 5, 2011 at the age of 66 years. Kenneth was predeceased by his father Valdimar, stepfather Walter, mother Edith, brothers Larry, Roy and Fred. Left to cherish Kenneth's memory are his two sons Roy (Suzie) and Faron (Sherrie); our mother Millie (nee Gilkes); three grandsons that he was very proud of and were the twinkle of his eye - Derek and special friend Ashley, Matt and Haden, five brothers Albert, Conrad, Georgie, Earl and Bob, four sisters Elsie, Valdean, Ruth and Diane, numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Dad was born September 23, 1944 in Riverton, Manitoba. He worked as a mechanic in Caland mines in Atikokan, Ontario. Later, he worked as a lumberjack in the bush in Ontario and Manitoba. He loved the outdoors, whether he was prospecting for rocks (gold and diamonds) or never passing up an opportunity to go hunting with his boys. Dad was fighting to beat his cancer, but at the same time remained a joker sharing stories and laughs with friends and family. He loved visiting family and friends and his love of tinkering about the yard was seen by many. Respecting Dad's wishes cremation has taken place and a celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2011 at the Vasser Hall in Vasser, Manitoba at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Kenneth's name to CancerCare Manitoba - Hematology Department.
