Date of Passing: May 06, 2011
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLORRAINE COMACK 1927 - 2011 On May 6, 2011, surrounded by the love of her children, Lorraine Comack passed away at the age of 84 years. Mom has been our strength since Dad passed away in 2000. Though her passing leaves us feeling a great loss, we have comfort in knowing she is once again with her Johnny . Mom leaves to cherish her memory her children: Gail (Randy), Gary (Susan), Colleen (Louis) and Valerie (Walter); grandchildren: Joel (Nicole), Allison, Jennifer (Jeff), Trevor, Stacey, Amber (Jay), Christian (Tamara), Dielle, Ashley (Daryl), and great-grandchildren: Logan, Collette, Paige, Austin, Jayden, Jakob, Jaxon and Emmett. Mom's happiest moments were spent enjoying talks with her grandchildren. She always listened, showing interest and support in each of their lives. Mom's early years were spent living in Headingley, MB. Her family moved to Winnipeg when she was nine years old. They lived close to and became members of Knox United Church. It was at Knox Church where Mom and Dad met and later married on April 30, 1949. Mom was a proud member of Knox, having a presence in the front Comack pew every Sunday. As a young woman, Mom worked at Hudson's Bay Company in the cosmetics department. She decided in the mid 1960s to leave the cosmetic profession and focus on what she considered to be a more important and rewarding job, making a loving and caring home for her husband and children. Mom and Dad shared many loves, their home for almost 50 years on Manitoba Avenue, their cottage at Winnipeg Beach and their retirement vacations in Florida and Hawaii. But the greatest love they shared was family. We will be forever grateful for the sacrifices they made, always putting us first. A celebration of Mom's life will take place at Knox United Church, 400 Edmonton Street, Thursday, May 12, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Bill Millar officiating. At mom's request, donations can be made to the Knox Church Duval Foundation, 400 Edmonton St., Winnipeg, MB R3B 2M2. NEIL BARDAL FUNERAL CENTRE (204) 949-2200 nbardal.mb.ca

I am so sorry to hear of your mother's death. I know she was a very special friend to my mom and that the last few years her Monday afternoon phone call meant alot to to my mom. I have many fond memories of your mom--I remember being a little girl talking with her at The Bay; times at your cottage in Winnipeg Beach; and of course spending time with the Comack clan on Christmas Eve--your mom made the best cookies ever!! Thanks Val for keeping that tradition going as our moms became elderly and unable to do this themselves. - Posted by: Cathy Falconer (Friend) on: May 10, 2011
