DORIS INEZ DUPAS (nee DEGAGNE) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother and grandmother Doris Inez Dupas (nee DeGagne) on May 8, 2011. Mom was born in Winnipeg, October 2, 1931. She was one of the youngest of 15 children. At the age of 18 she married Rudolph Dupas. Most of her 49 years of married life were spent in Woodridge, MB. In later life they moved to Winnipeg to be closer to family. Through all the years, her family was her first priority, teaching her girls the discipline of homemaking. Mom loved to read, play bingo and collecting toonies for her Christmas jar. Left to cherish her memory, her children, Pauline (Doug), Michelle (Gerry), Monique (Lawrence). She will be fondly remembered by her grandchildren Melanie (David), Michael (Dagmara), Andrea (Adam), Stacey (Mike), Nicholas (Katie), Nathan (Emily). She also leaves to mourn, brother Charles (Amy), sisters Rita, Delores (Art), Isabel, Rolande (Alex), sisters-in-law Connie, Mary Dupas and many nieces and nephews along with many valued friends. She now joins her husband Rudolph, infant daughter Gisele, son-in-law Harold, brothers and sisters-in-law Hermis, Denis, Ralph (Eva), Jean (Pearl) and infant brother Victor; sisters and brothers-in-law Dick, Jeanette (Alfred), Alma (Louis), Lillian (Albert), Priscilla (Lucien); her parents Ernestine and Cyprien DeGagne; sister-in-law Florence (Muriel); brother-in-law Rennie Dupas, mother and father-in-law Johanna and Leone Dupas. Everyone that knew mom witnessed the most honest of character. Even if it hurt, she told you the truth. For this we always knew where we stood, up front and centre. Mom left us with a lasting gift of values, hard work, honesty, integrity, resilience and commitment to our families. Through these values, her memory will be kept alive within us. Her belief in the lord along with her incredible inner strength sustained herself and us throughout her illness. Dignified to the last breath, she was able to reach the peace she so deeply deserved. The family would like to thank the team of medical professionals of the ALS Society that gently guided us through the progression of mom's disease. Special thank-you to Dr. Fontigny for her compassion in the early stages and Dr. Casey for expediating many aspects of care, home care to nursing home placement. Many thanks to the 2nd floor staff of Foyer Valade for the exemplary care and compassion throughout Mom's four year stay to the place she called home. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Green Acres Funeral Home. We will miss you Mom and cherish your memory, rest in peace. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ALS Society, 2109 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3J 0L3, or Foyer Valade, 450 River Rd., Winnipeg, MB R2M 5M4.
