GEORGE BRAUN It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of George Braun on May 8, 2011. George will be deeply missed by his wife of 47 years, Mary; daughter Sandra (Terry); son Ken (Linda); grandchildren Cheryl (Desmond), Kimberly (Chris), Samantha and Randy; as well as great-grandchildren Atlas, Ambrea, and Daedrick. George was born March 25, 1936 in Neuendorf, Russia into a blended family of yours, mine, and ours and it worked out very well. George was predeceased by his brother Peter and sister Neta. He is survived by his sister Kay (John), brother Martin (Annie), sister Frieda and brother Ben (Monica), sister-in-law Annie (Herb), sister-in-law Eleanor Nickel and sister-in-law Maria Braun, as well as many nieces and nephews. George came to Canada in 1948 at the age of 12 and had most of his schooling here. He held many jobs over the years and while working and raising a family, he managed to accomplish his Registered Industrial Accountant designation in 1980. George faced all the challenges life threw at him with strength and determination, always finding the positives. He was always there to lend an ear and a helping hand. His family was extremely important to him. Funeral service will be held on Friday, May 13, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Mennonite Church, 922 Notre Dame Avenue with viewing prior to the service. Interment in Elmwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Mennonite Central Committee, 134 Plaza Drive, Winnipeg, MB R3T 5K9.
