HEATHER FAVELL-WOODWARD September 6, 1966 - May 8, 2011 Peacefully after a lengthy battle with cancer, Heather Favell-Woodward passed away at home, as she wished, with her husband by her side. Heather is survived by her husband David and son Connor. She was predeceased by her parents, Douglas and Marion Favell. Heather was born in Winnipeg and grew up in Transcona. It was there that she developed many lifelong friendships. In particular her sister Marlene, who has been family all of her life and always there for her. Heather loved animals and followed this passion as a career when she began working at Birchwood Animal Hospital as a receptionist. She was a comforting voice and sympathetic ear to many clients in their time of need. These qualities carried forward when Heather was ill as she was always concerned about how others were doing. Heather loved her work and considered the staff at Birchwood to be like family. She was the social committee and made sure that everyone's milestones were celebrated, and in turn her work family rallied around her when she was diagnosed with cancer. Two other special members of her family were her cats, Hudson and Dermott. Hudson showed his concern for Heather by keeping a constant vigil at her bedside during her illness. Heather's pride and joy was her son, Connor. Even long into her illness, Connor and Heather enjoyed snuggling together in bed and reading. Spending time with her family was always a priority for Heather. Heather's education included a Bachelor of fine Arts degree. She continued being artistic through her love of photography and scrapbooking. Her favourite subject for both was her son, Connor. Heather's generosity was evident in the scrapbooks and photos she would create for her friends and family. Heather enjoyed her time at Buffalo Point, where she found wildlife and scenery to extend her photographic interests. A family trip to Fargo and a trip to Las Vegas for Heather and David were treasured adventures for her. We would like to thank the entire Palliative Care team that cared for Heather in the hospital and at home. A special thanks to Trish, Tamara and Onie, who always treated Heather like family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Heather's memory to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation. A Funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 12, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. A private family Interment will take place at a later date. Family and friends may sign a Book of Condolence at www.glenlawn.ca. Glen Lawn Funeral Home 982-7550 www.glenlawn.ca
