GLADWIN PLETT With sadness in our hearts as well as joy for the completion of a life well-lived, we announce the homecoming of Gladwin Plett. At the age of 81 years, peacefully, with wife Jean and family members at his side, Gladwin went to be with his Lord. Left to treasure his memory are his wife Jean, children Beverly, Barbara (Conrad) and Brian (Wavenie Brathwaite), and grandchildren Carmen (Adrian), Angie, Amy (Graham), Melanie (Mike), Daniel, Nathan, Shanti, and Devyn, and great-grandchild Marlow. Waiting to welcome him are his father Abram, mother Elizabeth, stepmother Susanna, brother Harold, sister Alvina, and daughter-in-law Sherry. A humble and gentle man, Gladwin touched the lives of many. From missionary work in Bequia and St. Lucia with West Indies Mission, to pastoring in Portage la Prairie, completing his B.R.S. at the age of 50, and going on to further church work in Germany. Gladwin lived for the joy of serving, encouraging and helping others. His was a life illuminated by love and faith. He met the love of his life, Jean Eidse, at Steinbach Bible Institute and they were married in 1952. Together they travelled overseas as missionaries, and raised a family. Later years brought grandchildren and retirement in Winnipeg. Gladwin was a builder, photographer, gardener, fixer of broken things and faithful supporter of the ones he loved. Not only his family, but many who knew him felt lucky to have Gladwin as their number one fan. We would like to thank the staff of Donwood Manor Personal Care Home for their compassionate care of dad in his final months. Viewing will be held Wednesday, May 11, 2011, 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Friends Funeral Service, 2146 Main Street. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 12 at 10:30 a.m. at McIvor Mennonite Brethren Church, 200 McIvor Avenue. Interment in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens.
