JOHN EDWARD SKRYPNYK July 1, 1943 - May 7, 2011 After a courageous battle with a variety of health issues, we announce with deep sadness the passing of Ed. Surrounded by family and loved ones, Ed gently went to sleep at the Health Sciences Centre. Ed was predeceased by his parents, John and Lena. Ed will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 37 years, Elaine; brothers, Bob and Larry; sister Darlene (John); sons, Michael, Nathan and Kevin; daughters, Crystal and Leeanne; nephews, John and Aaron; grandchildren, Lawrence, Brittany, Justin and Hailey and his extended family, Stephanie and Vera, relatives and many friends. Ed touched many people through his career as a chef, managing at Red Patch Taxi, and his work at the Winnipeg Mint. Ed enjoyed being with people and as illness limited his working life, he took on a new opportunity as a parking lot attendant at 400 Tache. What interesting stories he could tell from a day of activities at his lot. He so much enjoyed meeting people and sharing a joke with them. Ed had faith in Jehovah's promise (Rev 21:3,4,) and looked forward to the time when there would be peace on earth, where life would be forever, where death and pain would be no more. In keeping with Ed's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no formal service. The family would like to thank the Health Sciences Centre staff of the GH 4 Wing and the Homecare nursing staff. Ed's last words for all who knew him were Thanks for the memories.
