Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryTED HORBAS November 7, 1928 - May 8, 2011 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ted Horbas. Ted, aged 82, passed away peacefully at the St.Boniface Hospital with his family by his side. Ted was predeceased by his parents Steven and Mary, by his siblings Harry, Max, Joan and Helen, his daughter Rachelle (Pat Morrisey) and his great-granddaughter Lola. Ted is lovingly remembered by the mother of all his children Jeannine Lamy and by his two sons Gary and Melissa Horbas, Danny and Karen Horbas, by his five daughters Monique and Jaret Ditter, Suzanne Lamy, Maggie and Jerry Wowryk, Chris and Joel Desaulniers, Irene and Gary Taylor and by his 15 grand-children (Nolan, Tessa, Reese, Michael, Heather, Janique, Jazi, Desneige, Adam, Amanda, Colin, Melanie, Sandra (Garett), Leslie (Ludger), Tim (Claire-Ann), eight great-grandchildren (Beckett, Rachel, Nathan, Thomas, Sandra, Nicholas, Samuel, Elizabeth) and by his brother Eddie (Merle) and numerous loved ones. Ted was born in Libau, MB, where along with his brothers and sisters, worked on the family farm. Ted later worked for McKewen Brothers where he did some landscaping and also worked in the construction trade on such projects as Richardson building, Grace Hospital as well as the floodway known as Duff's Ditch. He also excelled as a car salesman for Terry Balkan/Gateway and later opened his own garage called Ted's Roco. One of Pop's favourite past times was watching CNN. He also enjoyed playing cards at the Club and working on Crossword puzzles. Pop - we will all miss your famous borscht that we loved soooooo much! A service to celebrate Pop's life will be held Friday, May 13, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St., West St Paul. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ted's name can be made to The Winnipeg Humane Society. To honour his memory in a personal way, plant some tomatoes - as he loved his tomatoes, have a bowl of borscht - his favourite soup, give your pet some extra treats - that's what Pop did with the family dogs or hug a child - for his life would not have been complete without all the love he had for his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
