MARIA PALETTA (nee MARRA) On May 9, 2011, surrounded by the love of her family, our dear mother left her temporary abode for her eternal home. Her absence will leave a huge void in our lives which we can only hope to fill by the legacy of the blessings she showered on us everyday of our lives and even more during the last days of her life. She leaves us a heritage of courage, strength and undying faith and love. Our mother was born in San Giovanni in Fiore, Italy on January 24, 1916. In 1956 she joined our father in Winnipeg. Upon her arrival, she immediately realized that this was a good land to raise her children and did not hesitate to make it her home. She worked for a short while in the garment industry but soon observed that there were great opportunities here to be seized. She dared to dream and with courage and hard work she realized her dream of opening a grocery store. Paletta Supermarket became her life, her ministry, and business school for her children. She was predeceased by her husband Antonio, her brothers-in-law Francesco, Giuseppe and Giovanni and sisters-in-law Angela, Marietta. She leaves to mourn her only sister Saveria Marra, children: Rosa (Sam), Salvatore (Isabella), Joe (Mary), Anna (Salvatore), Frances, Vera (Carmelo), Silvano (Louise), her grandchildren: Cara, Antonio (Cheryl), Angelo (Jennie), Maria (Edgar), Rosemary (Joe), Samuel (Jill), Saro (Lore), Costanza, Joseph, Antonio and Adrianna, great-grandchildren and immense source of joy: Olivia, Amore, Monet, Tiana, Elijah, Antonio, Esme and Joah. She will also be missed by her many nieces and nephews both here and abroad: Roslyn, Sara, Antonietta and Anna, from Belgium; sister-in-law Marietta and nieces and nephews Rosetta, Salvatore, Costanza, Pino, Luciano, and Franca, from Switzerland; brother-in-law Saverio Mazza and nieces and nephews, Saletta, Rosetta, Angela, Pasquale and Franca. Mom Royal, Gracious and Faithful to the very end. We Love you and Miss you Funeral arrangements to follow.
