Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJARDA HARREVELD (nee VAN NEK) Peacefully, on Saturday, May 7, 2011, after a brief illness in St. Boniface Hospital, it is with deep regret that we announce the passing of our mom Jarda Harreveld at the age of 83 years. Left to cherish Jarda's memory is her son Neil; daughter-in-law Charlene; loving granddaughters Adrienne and Erica; numerous nieces, nephews, as well as dear friends, who were always more than willing to help her. For this help, we will be forever grateful. She loved her family and friends more than anything. She was predeceased by her husband Jack and son Mark. Jarda was born in Amsterdam the Netherlands on July 1, 1927. She met her husband there and they were married in 1950. They immigrated to Canada in 1953 to begin a new and adventurous life together. Throughout their married life, they travelled extensively around the world with their family, having lived in Australia, the U.S. and the Netherlands, before returning to Winnipeg. Jarda was a physician's assistant and worked in the medical profession her entire career. She retired from Provencher Medical Diagnostic Laboratories as their office manager to enjoy retirement with Jack, with winters in Florida and summers back in Winnipeg. Her passion for life was contagious. As an avid reader, she could speak to anyone about a wide number of subjects. Jarda had a deep love of classical music and was a talented pianist. Music played a big part in her life and she was proud that her granddaughters inherited her love of music. Being an accomplished cook she loved to see others enjoy her delicious recipes, especially on Boxing Day. On Thursday, May 12, 2011 a private family Celebration of Jarda's Life will be held in the Chapel of Memories in Wojcik's Funeral Chapel, 2157 Portage Avenue at Sharp Boulevard. Special thanks to the medical professionals at St. Boniface Hospital for making her last days comfortable. Flowers, which mom loved, can be sent to Wojcik's Funeral Chapel at the above location.
