ANNE BARNLUND With her children at her side, Anne Barnlund passed away peacefully at Souris Personal Care Home on Tuesday, May 10, 2011. Anne was born in Portage La Prairie April 5, 1925 of Ukrainian immigrant parents, Joseph and Mary Mostowy. Joseph worked on the railroad, so the family lived in many small villages throughout Manitoba, the last being Domain. Anne is survived by her children Gail Amos, Doug (Carole), and Rick (Allison), her grandchildren David, Kathy (Pat Roche), Steven (Alissa), Kim (Joe Vodopivec), Loressa Morgan, Kristy (Jamie Cole), Mike (Colette) and Dan, her great-grandchildren Jordan, Mathew, Ethan, Molly, Megan, Quinn and Sara and her brother Sam Mostowy. Anne was predeceased by husband Russell (1981), brother Mike (1944), and special sister-in-law Irene Mostowy (2007). Anne and Russell were married in 1944. Immediately after their marriage, Anne and Russell bought a farm near Sanford, Manitoba, where their three children were born. In 1956, they sold the farm and moved to Rathwell, where Russell was a student minister with the United Church and Anne was very involved with young people's groups. They later settled in Treherne, where Anne worked in Lab and X-ray at the local hospital. After moving to Winnipeg, she spent 21 years working for Trainor Laboratories. During her retirement at Mike Sumka Place, Anne enjoyed many activities and friendships. She loved entertaining family and friends. Anne was very proud of her involvement volunteering with Hospice and Palliative Care. She enjoyed that period of her life as it was a perfect outlet for her gentle and caring soul. Retirement allowed her to spend as much time as she wished helping others until her own limitations were reached. While in Winnipeg, Anne was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and later Willowlake Baptist Church until having to leave her many friends and move to Souris. Anne will be fondly missed by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brother and many friends. The service celebrating her life will be held at Willowlake Baptist Church, 45 Willowdale Crescent, Winnipeg, MB R2J 2Z4 on Saturday, May 14, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. Interment at Alexander at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Siloam Mission, 300 Princess Street, Winnipeg, MB R3B 1M3.
