Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELERY CLARENCE WOOD December 9, 1932 - May 11, 2011 Sadly at the age of 78, Elery passed away. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Shirley, his daughter Terry (Richard), his son Jeff (Tammy), and his daughter Jill (Mike), along with his grandchildren Tawni (Chris), Ian, Brian, Jade, Shai, Nicole and Henry. He is also survived by his brother Larry and his sister Iona, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Elery was predeceased by his parents Frank and Birdie, and his brother Corbett. Elery was born in a house in Bowsman, MB. He then moved to Birch River, Flin Flon, and then to Willow Bunch, Saskatchewan. At the age of 15 he quit school and went to work for his grandpa at a sawmill in Birch River, and at 16, headed to Alberta to work on the oil patch. He founded Cambrian Blasting in 1976, and his son Jeff became his business partner in 1979. Elery enjoyed hunting and fishing, and travelled extensively with family to tropical destinations. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 21 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Avenue. Friends are invited to attend and share stories with the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
