Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJEANNE (AYOTTE) BRUNET August 12, 1911 - April 30, 2011 Peacefully, with her family by her side, Adelaide Marie Jeanne (Ayotte) Brunet passed away at the age of 99 years after a brief stay in the Morris Hospital. She was born August 12, 1911 at St. Jean Baptiste. Left to cherish her memory are her two sons, Adrien (Agnes), Marcel (Henriette); one daughter, Jeannine (Earl) Brown; and by her grandchildren: Denis (Colleen), Brenda (Gerry), Lori (Pete), Carol (Dan), Greg (Carla), Corinna (Doug), Regina (Richard), David (Lisa), Robin (Terry), Teresa and Paul (Rayna); and 19 great-grandchildren. She also leaves to mourn two brothers, Bernard (Yvonne), Rene (Lucille); and two special nieces, Aline Bohn and Irene Bourrier, along with many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Emile; her two sons and daughter-in-law, Gabriel and Leo (Irene); two grandchildren, Gerald and Perry; her parents, Marie-Louise Bissonnette and Louis Philippe Ayotte; her sisters, husbands and brother, Florence (Romeo) Fortier, Claire (Omer) Dansereau, Lucille (Henry) Johnson, Claude (Hortense), Evangeline at age four, Romeo at age 16; and all of the Brunet family of George and Eugenie (Beland). Mom attended Whitehaven School to grade eight and completed her grades nine to 12 at the Convent in St. Jean. Emile Brunet and Jeanne married on November 20, 1929 which was the beginning of the Great Depression. They had five children over the years; four boys and a girl. They lived through the hardship of the death of their son, Gabriel at age 35 years and two grandchildren. Mom and Dad had to move to many different places in Manitoba as Dad worked as a Station Agent for the CNR; Gilbert Plains, Scarth, Hallboro, St. Laurent, Lowe Farm and Letellier. Many good friends and memories were made along the way. A few years after Dad passed away, Mom moved to Morris at the Parkside Villa in January, 1979 where she enjoyed many years with her friends. Mom's good friends at the Villa were Tina and Henry Giesbrecht. At the age of 93, she moved to the Red River Valley Lodge in Morris. Mom was a strong believer in her faith. She was an avid reader and writer; this passed away the hours for her especially after Dad was gone. Her journaling has provided us with wonderful memories about our families' lives dating back to the early 1900s. She was an exceptional knitter and quilter; she knitted items for the Morris Cheer Board and lovingly embroidered quilts for family. She was a member of Ladies Aid Groups in Hallboro, Ste. Anne and Letellier and an active member of the Parkside Villa Tenant Group. She always enjoyed gardening. She was very interested in politics; she often wrote to our local MP's and Prime Ministers. One of her great loves was sports and besides being a Toronto Maple Leafs and Blue Jays fan, she loved football. Many were the days that family would all watch sporting events with her during a visit. She will be sadly missed as a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend but she has moved on with her journey in faith. We love you and miss you. The family would like to thank the staff at the Morris Hospital for their care and kindness. Thank you to all the family and friends who visited and cared for Mom. A very special thank you goes to the staff at the Red River Valley Lodge, especially Julie Van Den Bosche, who always showed such kindness to Mom and family over the years and especially now. Also to Father Georges Damphousse; thank you for your visits and prayers over the years and in the hospital. Cremation has taken place and the funeral service will take place on Friday, May 20, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the St. Maurice Catholic Church, Morris, MB. Immediately following the mass, family and friends are invited for a luncheon and video display celebrating her life at the Southern Manitoba Convention Centre in Morris. Interment will follow in Letellier. If so desired, family and friends may make a memorial donation to the Canadian Diabetes Society.
