VINCENT JOHN NEDOMYS On Saturday, May 7, 2011, our Dad, Vincent aged 82 years, passed away with peace and grace after a short battle with cancer. He had his family by his side bringing comfort to him. Dad will forever be loved, remembered and missed by his daughters Susan (Lou), Jackie, Lorraine; grandchildren TJ, Sean, Louie, Nicole, Kristen; sisters Cecile Borean, Violet Nedomys, Beverly Litkowich; nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his parents John and Josephine; sisters Agnes, Frances, Catherine, Anne and Winnifred Toussaint; as well as by his grandson Jamie Borys in 2007. There was a special bond between the two and Jamie was watching patiently awaiting his arrival so they could finally play together again. Born in Cloverleaf, MB, Dad was the second youngest of nine children. He attended Cloverleaf School until the illness of his own father found him, the only son, having to leave school and assume responsibilities of running the family farm. Although only such a young man at the time, Dad accepted this huge responsibility and devoted himself to their well being probably sacrificing some of his own dreams and plans for the future. At age 16 he made the difficult decision to leave the farm hoping for a more profitable job for the family and thus began his life's work in the construction industry. Dad's career spanned both residential and commercial construction that took him across the country and eventually settling in Winnipeg to finish his career as a Construction Superintendent. The success of his job allowed him to continue to help provide for his family until they all eventually left the farm to begin their own lives. After his own father passed on and all had moved on from the farm, Dad built a house for his mother, our Baba, in Beausejour, MB where she would want for nothing. Dad loved his grandkids and spent as much time with them as he could, watching them grow and teaching them things only grandpas know. He helped his daughters with as much as they would allow and with anything he could. He loved and frequently, actually daily, hung out with his son-in-law Pete at his shop helping him with odd jobs. He was always available to him and us...24/7. Dad enriched our lives with knowledge, the value and importance of a good education, work ethic and various life lessons that he probably never even knew he had taught us. He continued spending his time doing these things until we could see him begin to slow down in December 2010. Family always came first to Dad. He even fulfilled his commitment to help care for his sister Cecile up until the time of his passing. Vincent was extremely grateful to have had his special friend, Shirley Kula, in his life for the last 12 years. They spent many happy times with one another. She was a great part of his life and in turn became a part of our family. In compliance with Dad's wishes for, no fuss and a lot of commotion, a private family Celebration of his life has already taken place. A heartfelt thanks to Dr. Fred Olynyk, Dad's doctor for over 20 years who always made time for dad and his concerns. We are truly grateful for the special attention given to him. We would also like to extend our sincere gratitude to the staff on 3 East Palliative Care Unit at Riverview for the care and kindness that was given to our Dad in the final weeks of his life. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Holy Family Nursing Home, 165 Aberdeen Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R2W 1T9. So long Vinny. We will see you again... just not yet! God's finger touched him and he slept.
