GLEN BROWNING HOOPER In Loving Memory With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Glen Browning Hooper, age 64, beloved husband of Judy Hooper on Sunday, May 8, 2011 at the Riverview Health Centre. Glen leaves to mourn his passing his wife and soulmate Judy, his cherished daughters Keri Hooper-Burke (Michael) of Red Deer, AB and Jodi Morgan (Joe) of Miami, MB, precious grandchildren Madison, Joshua, Kaitlin, Julianna, Samantha, Dustin, Elizabeth and Alec, also a new baby who has not yet arrived. Glen is also survived and deeply missed by his brother Gary Hooper of Sperling, sisters Lois Lecuyer (Bernard) of Winnipeg and Phyllis Colvin (Fred) of Carman. Glen was predeceased by his mother Margaret Hooper in 1998 and his father Browning Hooper in 2010. Glen was born in Carman, Manitoba on July 24, 1946 and raised on the family farm northeast of Sperling. He attended school at Sperling School, Carman Collegiate, University of Manitoba Agriculture and then farmed in partnership with his father and brother until his retirement in 2001. Glen lived on the family centennial farm until he and Judy moved to Headingley in 2006. Glen loved farming and all outdoor activities. He was very active in boy scouts, 4H and church as a youth, and enjoyed hunting, snowmobiling, golfing, curling and camping throughout his life. Glen was always involved in the Sperling community events including the Sperling Centennial and Sperling Homecoming. One of his greatest pleasures was travelling to Mexico each winter. Glen was an outgoing, fun-loving and gentle individual. We will never forget his boisterous laugh and his beautiful smile. He worked hard his whole life and did all he could to support his family and ensure that his farm was progressive and successful. Glen faced significant health challenges his whole life, but never let that stop him from living life to the fullest. Over the last few years, a series of strokes, a brain injury and other health setbacks gradually took their toll but through it all, with the unending support of Judy, he fought valiantly and determinedly. Funeral service will be held on Monday, May 16, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Carman United Church with Rev. Catherine Waldie officiating. Interment will take place at the Sperling Cemetery, followed by a luncheon at the Sperling Arena. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, Manitoba Brain Injury Association, Stroke Association of Manitoba, CancerCare Manitoba or to a charity of one's choice. The family would like to thank Drs. Russell Broda and John Rabson for their continual care over the past several years, Drs. Marcelo Garcea and Benji Goldenberg, Susan Reesor and all the staff at Riverview Health Centre for making Glen's passing peaceful and comfortable - and also for their care and concern for the family during this difficult time. A golden heart stopped beating Two smiling eyes at rest God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best. We love you, Glen. You will be in our hearts forever. Until we meet again. xoxoxoxoxoxox Doyle's Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements. www.doylesfuneralchapel.com
