HARRY DENTON REEVES February 9, 1930 - May 12, 2011 With great sadness, the family announces the passing of Harry Reeves on Thursday, May 12, 2011 after a short illness at the Grace Hospital Intensive Care Unit. His memory will be cherished by his wife Norma; daughters and sons-in-law, Jana, Brian, Karen, Dave, Leslie and James. He will also be greatly missed by his precious grandchildren, Malaina and Cameron. Harry was born in Dearborn, Michigan and moved to Winnipeg at a very young age. Harry was a great sports enthusiast, spending many hours watching and enjoying almost every sport. In fact, Harry met his wife at a Winnipeg Blue Bombers game in 1959. Harry was a phenomenal stats man and was called upon from time to time to settle bets. He had a fantastic memory for dates and numbers and was known to do some pretty large math calculations in his head. Harry and Norma were married on June 24, 1961 and moved to their Crestview home in 1963 where he resided until his passing. Harry was proud of his career at Manitoba Telephone System, retiring as an Engineering Supervisor after 37 years. Although big and imposing in his younger years, Dad always had a big soft spot for his girls. He was also known as quite a bargain hunter and we would visit Harry's store in the basement for various supplies - mostly paper products. The family would like to thank the staff at the Grace Hospital ICU, especially Dr. Mallick, for their utmost compassion and care. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice. In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place, and a memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 17 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. Reception to follow.
