GARY CAMERON KEATS November 23, 1935 - May 10, 2011 Peacefully on Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at the Victoria Hospital, Gary passed away at the age of 75. Gary is survived by his sons Brad and Darrin (Kimberly), sister Heather (Frank), grandchildren Katie and Dylan; Gloria (Al), nephews Jay (Sarah) and Ryan (Leanne) and grandnephews James, Julian and Porter. Gary was predeceased by his parents Harold and Jessie. Gary was born in Prince Albert, SK. His father worked for CN Rail and as a result Gary lived throughout the Prairie provinces before settling in Winnipeg during his teenage years. He initially worked for CN with his father before taking jobs at Manitoba Bridge, Danforth Estates and Gilbey Canada which he retired from in 1991. Immediately following retirement, Gary went straight back to work, this time working for both of his sons. He worked with Brad at Kingswood Golf Country Club as the cart fleet manager and was in charge of player preparation. Darrin employed him as an outside sales rep for Caddy Shed Golf Stores. Following a hard day of work, Gary took great pleasure in solving the world's problems with his good buddies at the Travel Lodge and the Norwood Hotel. Gary was a wonderful and supportive father to his two sons and this carried over to his grandchildren - he never missed a hockey game, school event or social function. Gary was very close to his sister Heather and her family, making several trips to Phoenix and British Columbia to visit them. He greatly enjoyed his time spent in their company. Gary remains in our memories as a great friend, brother, father, grandfather and uncle. He took pride in any job he undertook and was always there to lend a helping hand. His quiet presence will be missed by all. As per Gary's wishes, cremation has already taken place. A Celebration of Gary's Life will be held at the Travel Lodge South (Doubles Fun Club), 20 Alpine Ave., on Wednesday, May 18 between 2:00 p.m.to 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society.
