Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryIRENE FINLAYSON On May 11, 2011, with her sons by her side, Irene Marie Ann Finlayson (nee Clavelle), widow of J. Wesley Finlayson, died peacefully at Tache Centre at the age of 91 years. Irene will be lovingly remembered by her five children: Patrick (Janet Wilson), Margaret Ann (the late Frank McDonnell), Emily (Duncan Hepburn), Fred (Charlie), Mary RSCJ; eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and her youngest brother George Clavelle (Betty). Irene was predeceased by four brothers and one sister. Irene was born on November 6, 1919, in Whitewood, Saskatchewan. She married Wes Finlayson on April 17, 1941. Shortly thereafter, they moved to St. Boniface, where Irene lived until her death. Irene's faith was central to her life. She had been a parishioner of Holy Cross Parish since 1947 and a long-time member of the CWL. Irene loved to gather her family and friends for dinners and celebrations. She was a true home' maker and loved cooking, gardening and oil-painting. She was a tireless volunteer in her parish, as well as a canvasser for charities. Irene also enjoyed working during elections in a variety of positions. The family would like to thank the dedicated staff on the fifth floor at Misericordia Health Centre and at Tache Centre. Irene especially wanted to thank Dr. Balko, her doctor for many years. Irene's funeral mass will be held at Holy Cross Church, 252 Dubuc St. on Tuesday, May 17, at 10:00 a.m. Interment will take place in the Whitewood Cemetery, Saskatchewan. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Irene's memory to the Holy Cross Food Bank, 252 Dubuc St., Winnipeg, MB R2H 1E3, where she had been a faithful volunteer.
