HAZEL ELIZABETH MARY KEARNEY (nee COOK) It is with deep sorrow we announce the passing of Mrs. Hazel Kearney on Saturday, May 14, 2011 at the St. Boniface Hospital. Mom was born November 6, 1926 in Portmouth, England where she met and married Lorne Kearney in June, 1945 and came to Canada as a war bride in 1946. Mom was predeceased by her son D'Arcy and brother Stan (Cook). Left to mourn her passing is her husband Lorne, sons Brian (Verna) and Neil as well as grandsons Mark (Rhonda) and Lee (Darrilyn), granddaughter Lorraine (Ben) and great-grandchildren Ashley and Dylan, along with nieces and nephews. Mom was an energetic, vibrant woman who was an avid reader and loved to knit, especially for the Heart and Stroke Foundation. She was also involved with the Volunteer Age and Opportunity Foundation. Mom was especially proud of her nursing accomplishments and her devotion to her family. She was a true gentle soul and loyal to all. A private family service will be held at Voyage Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society in her memory.
