JAMES (JIM) M. BAIRD It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James (Jim) M. Baird of Winnipeg, Manitoba, on May 14, 2011 surrounded by family at Riverview Hospital at the age of 62 years. Jim was born January 4, 1949 in Ayrshire, Scotland the son of the late Margaret and James Baird. Jim was the oldest of seven siblings. After two weeks of marriage Jim and his wife Mary left Scotland in 1971 and immigrated to Winnipeg. Left to cherish Jim's memory are his loving wife Mary, of 40 years, two daughters Fiona and Lorna, family in Winnipeg including his brother John (Irene), as well as family in Scotland including brother William (Debbie), sisters Margaret, Emily, Mary and Lorraine, many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends. Jim worked for the Province of Manitoba since 1973 and enjoyed the camaraderie of many close colleagues. At Jim's request, cremation has already taken place. A celebration of Jim's life will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the Wheeler Funeral Chapel, 211 Regent Avenue West. Jim and his family would like to thank everyone in the Palliative Care Program for all of their care and support. In lieu of flowers, Jim would appreciate donations made to the Palliative Care Unit c/o Riverview Health Centre or a charity of your choice.
