LEO J. LAGASSE August 28, 1923 - May 17, 2011 It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of Léo J. Lagassé. He was predeceased by Amanda, his loving wife of 62 years. He will be dearly missed by his children, Céline Perron (Ray), Robert (Chris), Aurèle (Deanna), Juliette Martinez (Frank), Donald (Louise), Joanne Long (George); grandchildren, Michael Perron, Nicholas (Melanie) Perron, Matthew Lagassé, Jennifer (Christopher) Biermann, Brittany Lagassé, Alex Lagassé, Keturah (Jim) Webber, Namura (Emmanuel) Nkeze, Latonya (Douglas) Leek; great-grandchildren, Nolan Perron, Mitchell Biermann, Rebecca Biermann, Joseph Nkeze, and Izahna Nkeze. Born in St. Adolphe, he also leaves behind his beloved brother Auguste (Claire) Lagassé; sisters Yolande Lagassé, Eliane Lagassé, Gertrude (Lorenzo) Battistello; and many nieces and nephews. Having enlisted at the tender age of 17 and spending five years overseas, Léo was a proud Second World War veteran. He was a devoted husband and equally devoted father and a man of deep faith. Whatever tasks Léo undertook were always performed with utmost care and meticulousness. Funeral mass will be celebrated at the St. Adolphe Roman Catholic Church on Friday, May 20, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. Prayers will begin at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, 675 McDermot Avenue, Room ON1160, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9.
