HERBERT BEGER January 30, 1934 - May 18, 2011 Peacefully on Wednesday, May 18, 2011 with his family by his side, Herb passed away at the Beausejour District Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on January 30, 1934 in Beausejour, MB. Left to cherish Herb's memory are his loving sons Brian, Glen (Debbie); daughters Cheryl and Lori (Mike); grandchildren Melissa, Darryl, Kurtis, Emily and Josh; brothers Erwin and Raymond Beger (Henriette); sisters Susie Hill, Alma Wenzoski (Ted), Linda Neduzak (Chuck), Adele Demoline and Evy Stasko (Bill); brother-in-laws Arthur Walesiuk (Trudy) and George Lucko (Vera) as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Elsie on July 28, 2008. They were married in Beausejour at the Grace Lutheran Church on October 28, 1956. He was also predeceased by his parents Gustav and Otilige Beger; sister Martha McKelvie; sisters-in-law Eileen Walesiak, Marge Beger and Wendy Beger; brother-in-law Bob Hill and daughter-in-law Maureen Beger. After school Herb used to work at Hoban's Chip Stand. He was then employed with Manitoba Hydro for 37 years and retired in December 1989. He held various different positions within the company and travelled many roads in Manitoba. In his spare time Herb raised beef cattle and cut cords of wood on his ranch in Seddon's Corner, MB. He gardened in the summer and enjoyed attending the local hockey games in the winter. He was a great hockey player in his earlier years, playing with the Beausejour Beavers. Herb was also an avid Detroit Red Wings fan. Herb enjoyed his daily walks to Chicken Delight and Vickies in Beausejour to meet his friends for coffee to share stories. He enjoyed the time spent with all of you. On Saturday, May 21, 2011 Herb's Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. in the Brokenhead Recreational Complex, 320 Veterans Lane, Beausejour, MB, with Pastor Dale Mohr, presider. Interment will follow in the Beausejour Town Cemetery. The family wishes to thank the NEHA Home Care staff as well as the doctors and nursing staff at the Beausejour District Hospital as well as Doctors Schroeder and Gingerish of CancerCare Manitoba for their care and support during the entire length of Herb's illness. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Herb's memory to the Grace Lutheran Church Building Fund or to the Beausejour District Hospital TV Fund.
