LT. COL. GLEN KENNETH DOWLE, C.D. (Retired) At home, as he wished, with his family at his side, Glen passed away peacefully on May 13, 2011. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 50 years Doreen, sons Donald (Kari), Douglas (Melanie), Daniel and daughter Katherine (Anthony). Glen was predeceased by his parents Fred and Peggy Dowle. Glen was born in Winnipeg, and raised in Kelowna, BC. He chose a military career, and joined the RCAF in 1954 as an Officer. He achieved the rank of Lt. Col., enjoying 38 years of service; much of it spent flying around the world. His most rewarding times were those spent with his colleagues on squadron as part of a crew. It was a very rewarding and satisfying career. In spite of all the travel Glen was a homebody and retirement was the best part of his life. He was fortunate to have 20 years to perfect his do it yourself' skills and solve most of the world's problems with his back lane' buddies. We are so grateful to Jennifer, his palliative care nurse, for her gentle care of Glen, and the guidance she provided for our family. We would also like to thank Dr. VanRooyen, Dr. Gingerich at Health Science Centre Cancer Care, and all the staff on the 8th floor at St. Boniface Hospital for their caring attention, and for making it possible for us to bring Glen home. The family has honoured his wishes with cremation. If you wish, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cancer Care Manitoba.
