GEORGE ZYWYLO With great sadness we announce the passing of our husband, father, grandfather and brother, George Zywylo. George is survived by his loving wife of 56 years Lena; son Terry; daughters, Lorena, Patricia (Bill); grandchildren, Nicholas (Stephanie), Laura, Vanessa, Danica and Kendra; brother John; sisters, Olga (Don) and Alexandra; as well as nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Petro and Maria; brother Bill and son-in-law Ken Wall. George was born in Kovalivka, Ukraine on March 24, 1927, immigrating to Canada in 1949. He worked many jobs, finally retiring from the City of Winnipeg in 1994. George was proud of his Ukrainian Heritage, a long time member of St. Mary the Protectress and many Ukrainian organizations. George loved travelling with family and friends, going to Europe, South America, Mexico, all over the United States as well as many cruises. He enjoyed his summers at Camp Veselka and time spent with his family. George was devoted to his family and friends, always willing to lend a helping hand and loved attending many activities with his grandchildren. A special thank you to Dr. Babick, the Palliative Care team doctors, Dr. St. Godard and Dr. Wong who came to Seven Oaks Hospital, and the nurses on Unit 7. Prayers will be sung 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 24 at the Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral of St. Mary the Protectress, 820 Burrows Ave. Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 25 also at the Cathedral with The Very Rev. Archpriest Dr. J. Buciora officiating. Interment will follow in Glen Eden Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba. We love you Gigi and miss you!
