Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySARA (SADIE) PETKAU (nee FROESE) 1922 - 2011 Sadie Petkau, aged 89 years of Winnipeg, MB formerly of Morden passed away at Donwood Manor on Thursday, May 19, 2011 with her children at her side. Sadie was predeceased by her loving husband, Cornelius (Neil) J. Petkau in 1998, her parents, three brothers and six sisters. With fondest memories, Sadie is survived by her two children, Gerald Petkau and Glenda (Wayne) Dyck, two grandchildren, Alex and Andrea Dyck, two sisters, Helen Warkentin and Kathleen (David) Klassen, sister-in-law, Anita Froese, two brothers-in-law, Dave and Abe Petkau, sister-in-law, Agathe Petkau and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Sadie was born on January 13, 1922, in Schoeneberg, Ukraine In 1929, her parents immigrated to Canada and settled in southern Manitoba at Rosetown. After her childhood and youth she attended Winkler Bible Institute and Manitoba Business College in Winnipeg. After that she was employed by the Canadian Wheat Board. On July 15, 1951 she married Neil Petkau of Morden, and together they lovingly raised two children, Glenda and Gerald. She loved to teach girls club and Sunday school. Sadie had a unique gift to recognize the talents in others and to make them feel loved and lifted by her presence. Her kind heart and brilliant smile allowed her to make everything from her working career, her life at home, activities at Donwood, to simple stories told to her grandchildren sparkle. She leaves her family and friends, children and grandchildren with the knowledge that they are truly loved. The family wishes to thank all those who cared for her. Winnipeg - Service and viewing will be held on Sunday, May 22, 2011 between 7:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. at Donwood Manor Personal Care Home (171 Donwood Drive, Winnipeg). Service will begin at 7:00 p.m. Morden - Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at 11:30 a.m. at the Morden Mennonite Church (363 Gilmour, Morden). Public viewing will be prior to the service. Reception will immediately follow the service. Interment at 2:00 p.m. at Southside Cemetery.
