Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDOROTHY GEORGINA BUSS 1922 - 2011 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Dorothy Buss on May 17, 2011, just one month shy of her 89th birthday. She was predeceased by her husband John, sisters Helen, Florence and brother Albert. She leaves to celebrate her life, her daughter JoAnne, son-in-law John, granddaughters Angie (Dave), Mandy (Brent), great-grandchildren Kian, Savannah, Lochlain, Julian, Zavian and Shayla, nieces Dyanne, Daryl and nephew Gary. After 27 years working in the finance department with Air Canada, she retired to Victoria, BC. She moved to Winnipeg in the summer of 2010 and reveled in the company of her granddaughters and great-grandchildren. Mom had many and varied interests. Loved good conversation, was an avid reader, enjoyed card games especially cribbage and canasta, jig saw puzzles and crossword puzzles. Mom had a passion for gardening, enjoying planning her garden, especially pink Geraniums. She was an accomplished seamstress and artist. With her hands she created the most beautiful art which won her many awards. Her artwork included the most amazing paintings and magnificent sculptures. A true gift she shared with family and friends. Mom was always first to volunteer, organizing events such as annual summer picnics, Air Canada's Children's Christmas parties, baking for Christmas bazaars, and giving art classes. One of her greatest joys was travel. Mom and I made many trips to Mexico, Hawaii, also travelling to England, Bermuda and Jamaica. She loved sitting on the beach watching the waves roll in. Mom was so much fun to travel with. Mom was a dedicated and loyal Blue Jays fan, never missing a game. Together we watched many games, cheering them on. Mom was a survivor, handling everything that life dealt her with grace, dignity and strength. Her sense of humour was unending. Mom was full of life, a quick wit who loved being with family and friends. With mom's warm personality and winning charm she met and made many friends throughout her life. She had a magnificent smile that can be seen in every photograph taken of her. Her strength will keep us going. Her sense of humour will keep us laughing. Her amazing talent will always keep her with us through her artwork. We will all miss her and the gifts of light and laughter that she brought to our lives. The family would like to express heartfelt thanks to the caring staff of the Health Sciences Rehabilitation Hospital, 6th Floor. A celebration of her life will be held at the home of her daughter, Sunday, May 22. In her memory, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Arthritis Society.
