FRANCES JOYCE TOLAND (SKINNER) August 12, 1927 - May 19, 2011 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother Frances Joyce Toland (Skinner), on Thursday May 19, 2011 at Seven Oaks Hospital. Mom was predeceased by her loving husband Gordon in February 1976, both her parents Alfred and Jean Skinner, her sister Margaret Morris, and her brother Jack Skinner, and her in-laws Bill and Agnes Toland. Mom resided in Weston most of her adult life, raising her children and working at Cantor's Grocery Store for over 20 years before retiring in 1988. Mom was also very active for many years with the L.O.B.A. and was Past Grand Mistress of Right Worshipable Grand Lodge of Manitoba. Mom also enjoyed many camping trips throughout Manitoba and the United States with her family and friends. She also loved her weekly craft night. The last few years mom has resided at the Lutheran Seniors Complex, until being hospitalized in February. Mom will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by her three children Bruce Toland (Jan Koss), Bonnie Unrau (George) and Beverly Downey; also her grandchildren Ryan (Tracy) Christopher Unrau, Lindsey MacKenzie (Toland), Alysia, Tyler, Kyle, Nathan, Zachary and Kayla Downey, and her great-grandchildren Octavian and Kinsley Unrau. The family would like to thank the Luther Home staff and Doris for her friendship and support. A special thank you to mom's wonderful home care workers Vicky, Carol, Holly and Irene who checked in on mom while still in her apartment. A special thank you to Dr. Armstrong and the nursing staff in the dialysis unit at Seven Oaks Hospital, as well as Dr. Bhanot and the nursing staff on the 3rd floor of the Seven Oaks Hospital for the care they gave to mom. A Memorial Service celebrating mom's life will be held on Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. (Corner of Main and Luxton). Interment to be held at a later time. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation at 1-452 Dovercourt Drive, Winnipeg, MB R3Y 1G4. To sign the book of condolence please goes to www.knyshfuneralchapel.
