JESSIE SMITH After a brief illness Jessie succumbed on Wednesday, May 18, 2011. She was predeceased by the one love of her life in 1998. She is survived by children Lynda (Denis) Chartier, Rick (Lorraine), David (Rolande); grandchildren Mike (Gary), Roger (Debra), Ryan (Lindsay), and Stacy, as well as great-grandchildren Nathan and Carter whom she doted on; her sisters Ollie, Anne and Mary (Eddy), as well as several nieces and nephews. Jessie was very involved with her Church family; she sang in the choir, was on the Altar Guild, and helped with Pastoral Care. She enjoyed carpet bowling and the twice yearly Garage Sales, and at Christmas she was asked to be an Angel for the Church Pageant, which meant the world to her. She dearly loved children and they were always a bright spot in her day. In her younger days she was an Akela with the Cubs and Scouts for many years and enjoyed her outings with them. She had a passion for working in her garden and the outdoors, and she especially enjoyed having a swing and all things pertaining to butterflies. As well, many knew her as the Honey Lady as every Fall she would look after orders for ice cream pails full of honey. We would like to thank her friends Ruth and Anne who meant a great deal to her. As well, thanks to the medical staff at St. Boniface Hospital who cared for her. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 25 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Mary Magdalene Anglican Church, 3 St. Vital Road. Private family interment will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, family requests donations may be made to St. Mary Magdalene Memorial Fund or a charity of choice.
