CHRISTIN LORNE ANDERSON Christin Lorne Anderson began his life at Red Deer Point, north of Winnipegosis, MB, on September 22, 1931. His life journey ended in Richmond, BC on May 8, 2011. Chris loved life and wanted all of his loved ones to join him on his many adventures. His quest was finding the most of what was exciting and fun in any experience and sharing his sense of enthusiasm with all of us. He leaves behind his family to carry on his legacy of finding the joy in life. These include his life partner Joan, his wife and mother of his children Helga, his son Aaron (Leslie), his daughter Julie (Werner), his beloved granddaughter Anna, his sister Carol (Brian), and many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. Chris was predeceased by his four brothers, Andy (Maria), Helgi (Jean), Finn (Florence), Conrad (Ida), and his parents Laurunsena and Ingolfur. Chris was determined to make the most of life from his humble beginnings in the 1930s. He worked at his parent's modest store in a small Northern town delivering groceries on his bike while his brothers were away in the war. He set out to stake his claim in Winnipeg and worked for the city on a construction crew until his ambition (and a broken arm) pushed him into the field of commodity brokerage working with Searle Grain for years before he ventured out on his own to establish Trade All Brokerage. The old time trading floor was his sanctuary, amidst the buying and selling, shouting, yelling and camaraderie, he was truly in his element. His time growing up in small town Manitoba rooted him in the fundamental pleasures of country life. He enjoyed his time spent in Steep Rock, MB, whether it was on the water in his boat, fishing, water-skiing or having a sing-song at the cabin playing his guitar with family and friends. Although he owned a pair of skates he excelled at the other ice sport...curling. A member of the Thistle and Rossmere curling clubs for many years, he truly enjoyed the people he met and the many friends he made, and of course the bonspiels. He was a jack of all trades and a master of some. From fixing anything with minimal tools to driving heavy machinery, one would never guess that this Monday to Friday suit and tie would change to a cap and jacket to repair a lawnmower, while helping his children with Math homework. Chris eventually pulled up stakes in Manitoba and after a brief stint in Minnesota, he decided to opt for a more temperate climate in Vancouver. Semi-retired he still could not sit still, so running a multi acreage condo complex became his newest passion. Chris and his life partner Joan made many friends out West. They enjoyed the complex for many years until full retirement was deserved. He loved meeting new people whether it was in Mexico or down the street, his genuine smile and laugh was contagious! He was finally forced to slow down due to a stroke, and lived out his final years with many visitors, and Joan by his side. Cremation has taken place. There will be no funeral service at Chris' request. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, Box 6, Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6.
