ANNE (ANNIE) GOSSELIN (Jensen) In Loving Memory It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Anne Gosselin on May 19, 2011 at the age of 89 at the Grace Hospital. Anne is survived by her daughter, Gloria Turzak, and to celebrate her memory are her grandchildren Jeffrey (Anita), Corinna (Ryan), Timothy (Heather), great-grandchildren Mason, Elisabeth and Emma. Also her siblings Lars' widow Roma, Victoria, BC, Anton (Tony) Jensen, Beaconia, MB, Chris Jensen (Sophia), Stonewall, MB and Timmey Howcroft, Vancouver, BC and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Anne was predeceased by her husband, Albert John Charles Gosselin (Second World War Veteran on July 22, 1943 and buried in Agira, Sicily), her son Albert John Charles (1987), son-in-law Allan John Turzak (2007), her parents Hans Christian Jensen (1950), Mortine Jensen Bourlet (1983), brother Lars (2004), sisters Mary Daily (2007) and Magda Pattern (2009), sisters and brothers-in-law Gorgina Jensen (1989), Edie Jensen (1998), Alex Daily (1992) and William (Bill) Pattern (1998) and Russ Howcroft (2007). Also cousins and nieces Donna Jensen (1999), Clarence (Spike) Jensen (2001) and Joseph Edward Charles Gosselin (1985), Violet Louise Gosselin (1988) Ashern, Manitoba. Also Murdoch Kirton (2004) and Edythe Everatt (2004). Born on July 13, 1921, Anne grew up on the farm in Moosehorn, Manitoba. Anne met her husband Albert at a Box Social at Parker School and were married on May 31, 1941. She worked at several jobs: St. Boniface Hospital, Peerless Garments (with special friend, Alice Unrau), the Army reserves (1955-1958) where she received training and honors of a Private, Corporal and Lieutenant Sergeant, then clerking at the Unemployment Office, and later years part time at Kentucky Fried Chicken, Village Inn Restaurant and Kmart. She was a ten-year member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #44, Burnaby, BC. Anne enjoyed many sports and received awards for her lawn bowling in 1989-1991 representing Manitoba for three years, becoming President in 1991 for the Lawn Bowling Association in St. James, received the Key to the Town of Dauphin for being an honorary citizen for her curling, enjoyed golfing with grandsons Jeff and Tim, as well as attending and driving them to golf, hockey, baseball and soccer and also her granddaughter in her sports activities such as soccer, track and field, gymnastics. She was a member of Lawn Bowling for Seniors in Birtle, MB (1972-1979) and obtained funding for new greens, and a member of the Kiwanis Club. She then moved to Winnipeg in St. James. She got funding for the Seniors Lawn Bowling for new greens from John Harvard, MP and was inducted into the Garden of Memories Heritage Park in 1999. Anne took several trips with family and friends around the world. One of her most memorable trips was to Fano, Denmark with her mother. She enjoyed playing card games with family, friends at Hamilton House and various churches and community clubs for several years. In her later days, she knitted afghans, sweaters and also crafted Kleenex boxes into bird houses for the craft tables for selling, did puzzles, and read to keep up with the times. Anne was a survivor not only because of the War but in dealing with chronic asthma for the last 30 years and stomach illnesses. Anne loved her family and enjoyed every day and night and especially travelling to see her siblings wherever they lived and having them visit her whenever they could. She loved close family relations and involved everyone she could to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, especially Remembrance Day in November. Memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home. At Mom's request Cremation has already taken place. Interment to follow in Stonewall Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Association of Asthma, Lung or Heart or a charity of your choice. The family would like to thank the staff of the Grace Hospital and the Home Care personnel for their kindness and helpfulness in Anne's treatment, it is greatly appreciated.
