JOE CHYZZY With heavy hearts and wonderful memories we announce the passing of our dearly loved husband and father. Peacefully, with his family at his side, Joe Chyzzy passed away on May 20, 2011 at the Arborg Personal Care Home. He will be greatly missed and always remembered by Minnie, his wife of over 61 years and by his daughter Marlene Chyzzy (Ross). Joe was predeceased by his parents Fred and Marie; sisters Victoria and Mary Chyzzy, Anne Leichert, Nellie Hawkins, Sophie Haack and Jean Lapka; brothers Mike, Tommy, Sam, Bill and Peter; sister-in-law Olga Chyzzy, and brothers-in-law John Leichert, Paul Zayik, Jack Hawkins, Glen Haack, Tony Lubinski and Ed Dubowski. Surviving are his sisters Kay Zayik, Rose Lubinski, Valerie Rutherford (Robert), Vicki Dubowski and Lillian Kowalsky (Edwin); brothers Paul and Ed Chyzzy (Cecilia); sisters-in-law Rose and Kay Chyzzy, and brother-in-law Jim Lapka. He is also survived by Minnie's family, Genie Dion (Joe), Stephanie Miller (Arnie) and Peter Burak (Diane). On March 19, 1928 Joe was born in Rembrandt, MB, the 13th in a family of 19 children. The family relocated to Sylvan, MB shortly after. After marrying Minnie Burak, together they farmed on the Burak homestead in Morweena, MB until 2009 when, due to health, he moved into the Arborg Personal Care Home. Joe's life centered around his family, friends and farming. The coffee pot was always on, along with other refreshments which he enjoyed along with the visit. He loved Ukrainian and country music which he listened to while spending long hours on the tractor and on sightseeing tours of the local area. The family wishes to thank Dr. S.V. Patel, the Gimli Hospital staff, Dr. Gerges and staff of the Arborg Hospital and the Arborg Personal Care Home staff for their wonderful care and compassion. Loving and kind in all his ways, Upright and just to the end of his days, Sincere and kind in heart and mind, What a beautiful memory he left behind. His weary hours and days of pain, His troubled nights are past; And in our aching hearts we know, He has found sweet rest at last. Funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 26 at the Sacred Heart Ukrainian Catholic Church in Arborg, MB. The Honorary Pallbearers will be Ed Basaraba, Marion Chyzzy and Marguerite Lapka-Woytowich. The Active Pallbearers will be Audrey Chyzzy, Marlene Karsin, Elaine Lapka, Ken Lubinski, Doug Lubinski and Fred Zayik. In lieu of flowers, donations in Joe's memory may be made to the Arborg Personal Care Home or to the Sylvan Cemetery, c/o Helen Mazurkowich, Box 392, Fisher Branch, MB, R0C0Z0.
