AMELIA EDNA HARBOTTLE Edna Harbottle (nee Clarke) passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 21, 2011 at the Lake of the Woods Hospital at the age of 90 after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Edna, born on May 2, 1921 in Mackinac, Manitoba, was the eighth of ten children born to Joshua and Alice Mae Clarke, and spent her childhood in many areas of Southwestern Manitoba. Edna married Victor Milne Harbottle on May 27, 1941 in Kinosota, Manitoba. They settled in Winnipeg in 1942 and had two sons, Bob and Garry. In 1958, Milne and Edna took a huge chance in life and purchased Crescent Beach Cabins at West Hawk Lake where they both touched so many lives. Edna and Milne worked tirelessly at their new endeavour. Edna was well known to her community, she volunteered for many local organizations and events. She was a kind, compassionate person and always found the good to see in people. After almost 40 years in business, Milne and Edna retired but remained at their favourite place, West Hawk Lake. They built a new home next to their son Garry and next to Crescent Beach Cabins, which still remains in the Harbottle family. She spent her days transforming her backyard into amazing rock gardens and developed a passion for genealogy, learning her family history and keeping in touch with many friends and relatives both near and far. Throughout her life, Edna enjoyed travelling - with her most special destination being the Isle of Man, her family's homeland. She was a lifelong member of the North American Manx Association. She was proud to have remained in her own home until her recent illness. She was able to return home for her 90th birthday celebration on May 1st, surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her family shall cherish their fondest memories of this loving, caring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Predeceased by her parents, brothers, sisters and husband Milne. Left to cherish her memory are her loving sons Bob (Wendy), Garry (Gail), grandchildren Kevin (Janet), Shaun (Jeanette), Lorne (Kristine), Suzanne (Jason), Sheri (Sean) and great-grandchildren Emma, Zoe, Bree, Josh, Calee, Ty, Baylee, and Jack. The family wishes to thank Dr. Vaudry and the Continuous Care staff on the 2nd floor, Lake of the Woods District Hospital for their kindness and support during mom's illness. A Memorial Service will be held at the West Hawk United Church 11:00 a.m. on May 27, 2011. CHAPEL LAWN www.chapellawn.mb.ca 885-9715
