CHARLES HAMILTON MOORHEAD June 23, 1913 - May 16, 2011 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Charlie Dad Moorhead at Deer Lodge Centre. His memory will be cherished by his wife Jean, daughters Vivian Moorhead and Sheila Harris, grandson Tim Harris and Yvonne and Hector Saavedra of Edmonton and family and many nieces and nephews. Charles was born in Medicine Hat, Alberta and grew up on a ranch between Maple Creek and Piapot, Saskatchewan with his parents and older brothers Richard and Dudley. Charlie joined the Regina Rifles during the Second World War and met his wife Jean while stationed in England. After the war, he remained in the Canadian Armed Forces and, served in the Korean War. After the war, Charlie remained in the forces stationed in North Battleford, Saskatchewan, MacDonald Camp, Manitoba, Shilo, Manitoba and Kingston, Ontario. His final posting was to Winnipeg, Manitoba where he retired in 1963. Charlie joined Deer Lodge Hospital as an orderly and later a respiratory assistant until his retirement in 1978. Charlie learned to play the violin at age 6 and, during his retirement, entered several fiddling contests and entertained at some of the senior homes around Winnipeg. Jean and Charlie loved to dance and through their lifetime took Ballroom Dancing, Square Dancing and folk and even line dancing and attended many functions over the years. Dad was a wonderful father and totally dedicated to his family. He had a wonderful sense of humour and will be missed by all. We would like to thank the staff at Deer Lodge, Lodge 6 East for the wonderful care they provided in his remaining months with us. In lieu of flowers you can make a donation to a charity of your choice. A memorial service will be held at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Avenue on Thursday, May 26 at 1:00 p.m. NEIL BARDAL FUNERAL CENTRE (204) 949-2200 nbardal.mb.ca
