Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROBERT (BOB) OLIVER PARSONS October 2, 1935 - May 21, 2011 The family sadly announces the peaceful passing of Bob on May 21, 2011 at the Grace Hospice after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Bob was predeceased by his parents Robert and Alethea Parsons. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Norma, daughter Sharon (Paul) Ryan, his son Jim, grandsons, Jon, Chris Ryan, sister, Linda (Paul) Hover, niece, Elizabeth Hover, nephews, Stephen (Vicki) Hover, David Hover, great-nephew Joe Hover and his long time friend, Clay Wotherspoon. Bob enjoyed life and always had a smile on his face and a story to tell. He was an avid reader enjoying history and mystery books. Bob was a jogger for many years and finished the half marathon at the age of 69. Bob worked at Merchants Consolidated Ltd. for 29 years. After receiving his CMA degree, he became Vice-President of Finance. He enjoyed his summers at Falcon Lake and Victoria Beach. Bob and Norma spent six months each year in Florida for five years until his first bout with cancer forced them to stay in Winnipeg. The family would like to thank the palliative care nurses and home-care, which allowed Bob to remain at home longer. A very special thank-you to all the angels in disguise at Grace Hospice who went above and beyond anything we could imagine to make Bob's stay as comfortable as possible. Also thanks to the Oncology nurses at Victoria Hospital, who made it possible for Bob to look forward to having chemo so he could visit with them. Thanks to Ann in Oncology at Victoria Hospital, who was always there to answer his questions and give him big hugs. Cremation has taken place and the funeral service will be held at Westworth United Church, 1750 Grosvenor Ave., Thursday, May 26, 2011 at 2:00 p.m., with Rev. Clark Saunders officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Grace Hospice, 260 Booth Drive, Winnipeg, MB R3J 3M7; The Salvation Army, CancerCare Manitoba or a charity of your choice.
