ROBERT (BOB) THIESSEN February 24, 1949 - May 20, 2011 It is with deep sadness and sorrow that the family announces the passing of Robert (Bob, Bobby) Thiessen. Bob passed away peacefully in his sleep. Remaining to cherish Bob's memory is his loving wife Janet; daughter Caroline; brother Edward; niece Samarra Burnett as well as Janet's mother Ella Walter. He was predeceased by his parents Peter and Susan Thiessen. Bob spent his early life along the woodland shores and open farmland adjoining the Assiniboine River. He attended the one room Baie St. Paul East grade school during its last years, then later attended high school in St. Francois and Elie. After Mechanical Engineering studies and graduation at the University of Manitoba he chose to work for Monarch Industries in Winnipeg where he was employed in production engineering and later as manager for 31 years. He remained in his office not far from the factory floor until his retirement in (2004). Bob had a very close relationship with his daughter Caroline. He was an amazing father and a most dedicated husband to his wife Janet, of 31 years of marriage. Bob was kind to everyone and accepted people for who they were. He always was a strong believer in Christ and really connected with his Christian faith the last six months before he died. We will miss his intellectualism, profound wisdom, rich spirituality, witty sense of humour and kind personality. He was a truly one of a kind person who touched people's hearts. His life was one of sensitive insight and practical service. On Saturday, May 28, 2011, Bob's Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. in St. James Lutheran Church, 871 Cavalier Drive. For those who wish, viewing will be held prior to the service. Interment will follow in Friedensthal Cemetery. We, the family, would like to express our many thanks to the people who have been helping us during this sad and difficult time. I am the resurrection and the life, he that believeth in me though he were dead yet shall he live and whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die John 11:25
