GEORGE MCLEOD KILLEN August 19, 1921- May 20, 2011 With his loving family surrounding him, George passed away peacefully on the evening of May 20, 2011. George is survived by his loving wife, Edna of 71 years, his three remaining children, Bob (Anita), Gerry (Valerie) and Judy (Brian). 13 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. George was predeceased by his father and mother, (Joseph and Christina Killen), his six siblings, and their spouses; his eldest daughter Carolyn and husband Kurt Godfredsen, and eldest granddaughter Lori DePourq. George served in the Canadian Navy stationed in Halifax, NS. For a short while, George was employed by the Canadian National Railway as a policeman. In April of 1950, George joined the St. Vital Fire Department. In 1974, St. Vital Fire Department amalgamated with the Winnipeg Fire Department. George retired as a Captain in December of 1981. Many thanks to Dr. Terry Hartrick and Lea. We would also like to thank the staff of Palm South from the Lodge at Broadmead for their exceptional care and kindness. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice. A Celebration of George's Life' will take place: Friday, May 27, 2011, 2:00 p.m., St. Andrew's Anglican Church, 9691 4th Street, Sidney, BC. Condolences may be emailed to brian @hanan.ca
